The Senior Engineering Technician plays a key role in supporting engineering teams across the design, testing, and maintenance lifecycle. This hands‑on position requires advanced technical proficiency in diagnostics, equipment maintenance, instrumentation, and testing. The technician will lead the execution of technical tasks, including custom cable fabrication, strain gauge application, mechanical setup, and data acquisition, while mentoring junior technicians and promoting continuous improvement in testing methods and technical processes.
Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex issues with mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation systems.
- Plan, schedule, and execute preventative maintenance and repair tasks to minimize equipment downtime.
- Conduct product functional tests, design verification, and validation testing, both on‑bench and in‑vehicle.
- Install, calibrate, and maintain strain gauges and data acquisition systems for prototype and production testing.
- Design, fabricate, and verify high‑reliability custom cable assemblies to support lab and field test environments.
- Perform high‑precision soldering, crimping, and connectorization of instrumentation cables.
- Collaborate with engineers to develop testing setups and technical solutions for experimental systems.
- Lead the setup and execution of test procedures using industry‑standard tools and software.
- Mentor and train junior technicians in technical tasks, safety procedures, and quality standards.
- Maintain detailed documentation of equipment maintenance, test results, instrumentation setups, and calibration logs.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to guide fabrication and assembly processes.
- Support root cause analysis for product test failures.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory, and quality protocols in lab and field environments.
- Participate in cross‑functional project teams, providing hands‑on technical support and expertise.
- Drive innovation in test methods and instrumentation setups by staying current with new tools, techniques, and technologies.
- Ensuring Client's Quality Management System (QMS) meets the requirements of the IATF 16949 standard and relevant customer‑specific requirements. This involves monitoring processes, identifying risks, implementing controls, and ensuring the QMS remains effective and compliant.
- Field of Study/Technical
Certifications:
Associate degree in Engineering Technology or a related technical field preferred. Certification in electrical, mechanical, or instrumentation disciplines is a plus. - Minimum # of Years of
Experience:
Minimum 5+ years of experience in a technician role, preferably in product development, testing, or manufacturing support. - Required PC
