Job Description

General Dynamics Land Systems (GDLS) is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Engineering Project Manager within the advanced product engineering group to ensure execution of research and development projects in the area of counter drone and active protection technology projects. This position reports to the Product Manager, C-UAS within the global advanced product development group. The Engineering Project Manager is a leadership position responsible for providing organization, direction and guidance to a cross‑functional team across the GDLS organization.

The selected candidate will be required to manage cross‑functional technical scope within schedule, budgetary & technical constraints. Some travel may be required.

• Work with the product manager and CTO organization, as well as business development to win emerging opportunities within the portfolio
• Represent the portfolio and department to GDLS leadership and our clients as necessary
• Review and approve all engineering bids within the portfolio
• Conduct performance management activities IAW GDLS processes, as applicable
• Provide direction and guidance to the team of direct reports in the following areas:
  • Generate and execute project plans and integrated schedules
  • Establish funding mechanisms to facilitate work scope (eg, BCRs, WADs)
  • Forecast and maintain project manpower demand file
  • Establish & utilize metrics to drive and monitor project performance
  • Facilitate and support technical and programmatic events
  • Communicate direction and guidance to stakeholders that deliver technical products

• Minimum of Bachelors degree in Engineering or (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems preferred but other degrees will be considered with relevant experience).
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience
• Proven ability to establish and maintain effective customer relationships
• Demonstrated ability to form and lead teams
• Experience in leading design, development and integration of complex systems
• Proven leadership skills and competencies
• Ability to assess technical risk and develop corrective actions and/or mitigation plans
• Must have excellent analytical, planning and problem‑solving skills
• Must have strong oral and written communication skills
• Must have excellent business acumen and negotiating skills
• Ability to travel as needed
  
  Project Management experience required
• This position will require eligibility to obtain a US security clearance. (Non‑s may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance)
