Position: Pipefitter 1

Pipefitter 1-Sterling Heights MI.

Day Shift
-6 am start time
Contract position

Description
  • Able to competently work on their own with minimal direction / High to Mid Skill / Medium Complexity projects / solid knowledge base / Quality of work mostly meets expectations .
  • Proficient at laying out header and running SCH
    40 black/galvanized pipe.
  • Proficient at tube bending
  • Proficient at laying out header and sweating L series copper
  • Proficient at laying out header and running SCH
    80 PVC pipe
  • Reads blueprints to interpret and implement pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams to assemble and pipe mechanical assemblies.
  • Maintains application skills for J.I.C. pipe fitting specifications.
  • Sets working pressures, valve sequencing, hydraulic pressures, etc.
  • Familiar with component functions (hydraulic and pneumatic valves, check valves, ball valves, FRL’s, etc.)
  • Makes sure that all changes are marked in drawings.
  • Understands and follows safety & environmental regulations and identifies safety/environmental concerns.
  • Adheres to the Quality System and participates in continuous improvement.
  • Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
  • Assures a clean work area.
  • Has own tools and PPE.
Experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

  • Ability to read, analyzes, and interprets general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Education

One-year certificate from college or technical school; 5 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
