Associate Chemist at MKS Inc.

Overview

As an Associate Chemist, you will receive, prepare, and analyze samples, perform chemical tests using techniques such as UV-Vis, FTIR, and HPLC, and collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure materials meet specifications. You will also be trained to safely operate a forklift for moving chemical shipments and supplies.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare chemical solutions, conduct experiments, and safely operate laboratory equipment.
  • Collect and analyze experimental data using instrumentation and software programs.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments, procedures, and results in laboratory notebooks or electronic databases.
  • Assist in quality control procedures to test raw materials, intermediates, and finished products.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines, following standard operating procedures (SOPs) and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform warehouse functions, including shipping and receiving chemical products.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 0-1 year of related experience.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and chemical safety.
  • Must either have hi-lo forklift experience or be willing to learn; this is a mandatory function of the position.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
  • Perform activities such as sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs and performing tasks at various heights.
  • Rely on good manual dexterity and coordination.
  • Remain in a stationary position 60-80% of the time.
  • Safely operate a forklift; training and certification within 30 days of hire.
  • Operate in a laboratory/manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals and fumes; adherence to safety guidelines is mandatory.
