The Route Merchandiser is responsible for driving a company vehicle over an established route or carrying out any special project/task assigned, including re management, auditing, training, and more. The schedule, days/times (variable work week), and geographical location will vary based on the task  Route Merchandiser ensures customer satisfaction for assigned clients while maintaining data integrity. This includes gathering information from customers, anticipating their needs, and fulfilling expectations through delivery and stocking of products, plus general maintenance of space and equipment at each point of sale.

Responsibilities
  • Merchandise products according to plan‑ograms, roll‑out promotions, and obtain customer feedback. Maintain inventory levels for all products sold, including soft drinks, candy, pastry, and snack items. Restock vending spirals and follow inventory tracking protocols. Record out‑of‑date, rejected, or unsold merchandise and monitor shelf life to minimize spoilage.
  • Load and unload products using proper safety protocols. Drive the company vehicle to points of sale and maintain open communication with management regarding product changes and scheduling.
  • Collect money from vending machines, replace bill changers, and refill coin tubes. Follow cash handling and loss prevention protocols, record transactions, and report any suspicious activity.
  • Ensure proper handling and refrigeration of all perishable items during transit and while stocking. Perform routine cleaning of vending machines, coffee machines, and microwaves, and communicate any concerns to management.
  • Greet clients and customers in a friendly, professional manner. Provide product suggestions and address questions or concerns. Offer feedback to improve route efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct minor repairs and adjustments on machines; report more complex issues to Service Central for repair. Complete minor vending equipment repairs and test equipment to ensure proper function.
  • Perform full inventory counts regularly.
  • Complete projects and assignments as needed.
Job Qualifications
  • High‑School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to pass DOT physical requirements
  • Clean driving record
  • Chauffeur’s license
  • Prior experience driving a 16‑ft box truck or similar
  • Prior retail experience and familiarity with basic merchandising concepts strongly preferred
  • Basic computer skills (iPad, handheld scanner, smartphone, and other technology)
Physical Demands
  • Climbing in and out of a vehicle
  • Loading and unloading products from the vehicle
  • Bending, stooping, pulling/pushing, and twisting required
  • Walking and standing for long periods
  • Regular lifting 25–50 pounds

The physical demands for this position include sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving intermittently during working hours. These requirements may be accommodated with reasonable adjustments.
