About the Role

Our client is seeking a Software Engineer with 4+ years of experience and Fire Control experience to support the development and integration of embedded application software for a new ground combat vehicle program. You will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements, architecture and design, coding, testing, hardware/software integration, debugging, and software releases. This position is 100% onsite.

What You Will Do
  • Design, configure, and test software development environments used to create software documentation, code, and test artifacts.
  • Develop software documentation and code across vehicle domains including board support, displays, power management, lethality, software deployment, embedded training, and diagnostics.
  • Perform software requirements analysis.
  • Develop preliminary and detailed software designs using department-approved design tools and standards.
  • Develop software designs that influence overall vehicle architecture.
  • Develop software code in accordance with established department standards and procedures.
  • Develop test procedures and perform unit and functional testing of executable software.
  • Perform hardware/software integration.
  • Debug software issues identified throughout multiple testing phases.
  • Provide development task status updates to software project leads.
  • Integrate software releases across multiple Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCIs) into overall vehicle software releases.
  • Interface with Systems Engineering, Project Management, Software Quality, and other departments and business units.
  • Lead Agile Scrum ceremonies, including daily Scrum meetings, PI Planning events, retrospectives, and demonstrations.
  • Support continuous improvement processes and methodologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring to the Table
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 4+ years of experience in a related software engineering role.
  • Fire Control experience is required.
  • Experience with Git, Bitbucket, Java, C#, C++, C, and Python.
  • Experience working with mixed operating system environments such as VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, virtualization, BSPs, and GVOS.
  • Experience with serial and network protocols such as RS-232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP.
  • Experience with DDS, Kafka, or other publish/subscribe middleware.
  • Experience with Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) architectures.
  • Experience with NGVA (NATO Ground Vehicle Architecture) data models.
  • Experience with UKGVA (UK Ground Vehicle Architecture) data models.
  • Experience with ground combat vehicle network architecture.
  • Experience with GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, or FACE.
  • Experience with Agile processes and tools.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
What Sets You Apart
  • Previous experience working in the defense industry.
  • Familiarity with Type 1/2 hypervisors.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with IoT concepts.
  • Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler.
  • Experience with Data Distribution Service (DDS).
  • Experience with UDP, TCP, and multicast networking.
  • Experience supporting complex military vehicle software systems.
Clearance Requirements

This position requires eligibility to obtain a U.S. Security clearance. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.

Additional Information

This position is 100% onsite in Sterling Heights, MI. Standard work schedule is a 9/80 schedule, allowing employees who work nine-hour days Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
