Our client is seeking a Software Developer to join a team responsible for developing and supporting embedded application software for a new ground combat vehicle program. You will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements, architecture and design, coding, testing, integration, debugging, and software releases. This position is 100% onsite due to the nature of the work.
What You Will DoDevelop software documentation and code across vehicle domains such as board support, cybersecurity, displays, or downloading. Perform software requirements analysis. Develop preliminary and detailed software designs using department-approved design tools and standards. Develop software code in accordance with established department standards and procedures. Develop test procedures and perform unit and functional testing of executable software. Perform hardware/software integration. Debug software issues identified throughout multiple testing phases.
Provide development task status updates to software project leads. Contribute to software releases involving multiple developers. Interface with other departments and business units, including Systems Engineering and Software Quality. Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies. Support continuous improvement processes and methodologies. Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 1-4 years of experience in a related software development role.
- Experience with Git, Git Lab, and/or Bitbucket.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
Java, C#, C++, C, Python, or Qt. - Experience working with mixed operating system environments such as VxWorks, Linux, RTOS, virtualization, BSPs, and GVOS.
- Experience with serial and network protocols such as RS-232/422, CAN, TCP/IP, and UDP/IP.
- Experience with DDS, Kafka, or other publish/subscribe middleware.
- Experience with Agile processes and tools.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work occasional evening and/or weekend overtime as required.
- Previous experience working in the defense industry.
- Experience with ground combat vehicle network architecture.
- Familiarity with GCIA, MOSA, SOSA, or FACE.
- Familiarity with Type 1/2 hypervisors.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with IoT concepts.
- Experience with Cameo Systems Modeler.
- Experience with Time Sensitive Networking (TSN) architectures.
- Experience with NGVA (NATO Ground Vehicle Architecture) data models.
- Experience with UKGVA (UK Ground Vehicle Architecture) data models.
- Experience with Data Distribution Service (DDS).
- Experience with UDP, TCP, and multicast networking.
- Ability to support embedded software development for complex vehicle systems.
- Must be able to climb on and off, work in, and work around military vehicles.
- Must be able to pass an ASR (Anthropometric Size Requirement) test for confined-space access.
- Travel of up to 10% may be required periodically.
