Teacher Assistant
SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. RE-1, VALLEY
Full‑time, 165 scheduled working days during the school year, 8 hours/day, 4‑day school week (Tuesday‑Friday).
Salary range: minimum $16.79/hour, salary dependent on experience (Lane C, Step 1 on Classified Hourly Salary Schedule).

Qualifications And Education Requirements- Hold an Associates or higher degree
- Demonstrated aptitude for the work to be performed.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
- Successfully pass the Work Keys test (through the Workforce Center) for Reading Information, Mathematics and Business Writing.
Reports To:
School Principal, School Assistant Principal, Classroom Teachers
- The Teacher Assistant works closely and assists the classroom teacher with academic and/or behavioral implementation and support, which may include teaching a small reading, math or other groups daily.
- The Teacher Assistant receives the same extensive training and coaching that the classroom teachers do.
- Assist faculty members in the classroom setting and outside the classroom setting to implement the curriculum.
- Assist the Special Education Teacher in implementing student plans (IEPs, 504s, intervention).
- Assist faculty in implementing academic and behavior plans.
- Receive training in RE‑1 Valley District pedagogy and curriculum, and assessment in order to be maximally effective with students.
- Fulfill regular monitoring duties (e.g., before‑ and after‑school care, playground monitoring, etc.).
- Any other duties as assigned.

- Ability to learn and assist in implementing a variety of curricula (phonics, mathematics, P.E.).

- Communicates clearly, collegially, and regularly with co‑workers.
- Willingness to take direction from classroom teachers, instructional coach, and administration.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with both students and adults.
- Commitment to a diverse population of students and to closing the achievement gap.
