CDOC Social Worker/Counselor IV-Mental Health Supervisor - (STERLING)
The CDOC Social Worker/Counselor IV-Mental Health Supervisor (STERLING) is a full‑time, mid‑senior level position located in Sterling, CO. This role reports to the Facility Mental Health Program Director and is responsible for leading, supervising, and improving the mental health care of offenders.
Responsibilities- Plan, direct, and maintain delivery of mental health services ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Coordinate with facility administration, staff, and other clinical administrators to assess mental health needs and establish treatment plans.
- Provide training on mental health issues and manage psychiatric crises and emergencies.
- Supervise, evaluate, and recommend staffing actions for clinical staff.
- Maintain standard of care compliance and act as interface between unit and other CDOC departments.
- Facilitate communication and team building; provide financial and payroll entry support.
- Consult and provide training to community and state service providers.
- Participate in mental health evaluations, therapy, and crisis intervention, including 24‑hour on‑call shift.
- Maintain required credentials and certifications.
- Active license in Colorado or a state participating in the Social Work Licensure Compact (Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, or Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist).
- Two (2) years of licensed or license‑candidacy experience with the mental health and/or sex offender population.
- Self‑control and ability to work in stressful, potentially violent situations.
- Ability to remain alert, emotionally stable, and mentally resilient.
- Advanced knowledge of mental health standards and guidelines.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
- Ability to provide direct patient care to offenders.
- Must maintain required licensure.
- Supervisory experience with professional and behavioral health staff.
- Experience in clinical supervision and guiding treatment planning.
- Experience with severely mentally ill and developmentally disabled populations.
- Extensive licensed experience providing mental health treatment.
- Must be at least 21 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
- Possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Have no felony convictions.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Must pass defensive tactics training and physical fitness requirements.
- Must complete background investigation and drug screening.
