Mental Health Supervisor – Responsibilities- Planning, directing, and maintaining delivery of mental health services, assuring compliance with mental health guidelines, and managing appropriate use of resources.
- Coordinating with facility administration and staff, as well as with other clinical administrators, regarding the mental health needs of offenders; establishes treatment plans for management of offenders with mental illness or mental problems, or other special needs populations.
- Provide training regarding mental health needs and issues; direct the management of psychiatric crises and emergencies.
- Supervise, organize, review, and evaluate the work of staff for competency and efficiency; recommend hiring and corrective action of assigned staff with accurate, timely, and appropriate documentation.
- Maintain standard of care compliance with all applicable mental health standards; interface between the mental health clinical program/unit and Clinical Services administration, other CDOC departments/facilities, and outside agencies.
- Facilitate communication to assure staff receives clear accurate and congruent information on a consistent basis; facilitate team building within the unit and between the clinical program or unit and other CDOC departments.
- Responsible for payroll entry and solve problems for day‑to‑day mental health operations of assigned unit or program.
- Act as a consultant and provide training to facility, community, and state service providers on issues related to treating incarcerated offenders diagnosed with mental illness, or other special needs populations.
- Participate in formal and informal mental health evaluations, assess psychiatric and developmental disability levels; group, brief, and individual therapy, and crisis intervention to include participation in the 24‑hour Mental Health On‑Call rotation.
- Maintain required credentials, including licensure and any certifications required for specialized practice such as sex offender treatment or domestic violence.
- Applicant must possess a valid, active license from the State of Colorado or a State participating in the Social Work Licensure Compact as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
- Applicant must have two (2) years of licensed or license candidacy experience, with current valid licensure from the State of Colorado or a State participating in the Social Work Licensure Compact, to include Licensed Social Worker (LSW), Licensed Professional Counselor Candidate (LPCC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker Candidate (SWC) or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Candidate, and experience must be with the mental health and/or sex offender population.
