LocationSterling, CO. Position is within 30 miles of the state border and exempt from residency requirements.
Responsibilities- Planning, directing, and maintaining delivery of mental health services, assuring compliance with mental health guidelines, and managing appropriate use of resources.
- Coordinating with facility administration and staff, and other clinical administrators, regarding the mental health needs of offenders; establishing treatment plans for offenders with mental illness or special needs populations.
- Providing training regarding mental health needs and issues; directing the management of psychiatric crises and or emergencies.
- Supervising, organizing, reviewing, and evaluating the work of staff for competency and efficiency; recommending hiring and corrective action with accurate documentation.
- Maintaining compliance with mental health standards; interfacing between the mental health clinical program/unit and Clinical Services administration, other CDOC departments/facilities, and outside agencies.
- Facilitating communication to assure staff receives clear accurate and congruent information; facilitating team building within the unit and other CDOC departments.
- Responsible for payroll entry and daily mental health operations of assigned unit or program.
- Acting as a consultant and providing training to facility, community, and state service providers on issues related to treating incarcerated offenders diagnosed with mental illness, or other special needs populations.
- Participating in formal and informal mental health evaluations, assessing Psychiatric and Developmental Disability levels; providing group, brief, and individual therapy, and crisis intervention including 24-hour Mental Health On-Call rotation.
- Maintaining required credentials including licensure and certifications such as sex offender treatment or domestic violence.
- Valid, active license from the State of Colorado or State participating in the Social Work Licensure Compact:
Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Psychologist, or Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. - Two (2) years of licensed or license candidacy experience with the mental health and/or sex offender population; current valid licensure (LSW, LPCC, SWC, or LMT‑C).
- Supervisory experience overseeing professional, behavioral health staff; making decisions that affect pay, status, and tenure of subordinate employees.
- Clinical supervision and/or instruction over employees and/or interns, including guiding diagnostic assessments, reviewing treatment plans, and measuring treatment goals.
- Experience providing mental health treatment and discharge planning with severely mentally ill and developmentally disabled populations.
- Experience with leadership and oversight of a mental health program.
- Extensive licensed experience providing mental health treatment.
