Job Overview

The Division of Adult Parole supervises inmates/parolees 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to ensure public safety and facilitate successful re‑entry into the community. The role involves field work, case planning, supervision, and enforcement of parole conditions in collaboration with federal and state statutes, CDOC regulations, and the Parole Board.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct field work—including pre‑release investigations, home visitation, job verification, and parole violation investigations—often after hours.
  • Apply evidence‑based assessment, case planning, and supervision techniques as directed by team leaders.
  • Direct community‑based parolee assessment and supervision plans, updating the Colorado Transition Accountability Plan (CTAP).
  • Monitor compliance and progress on employment, drug treatment, restitution, residence, and specialized programs.
  • Use motivational interviewing, coaching, and evidence‑based practices to reinforce pro‑social behavior and problem‑solving skills.
  • Provide crisis intervention, personal counseling, and guidance to address interpersonal, familial, and financial challenges.
  • Investigate and respond to parolee non‑compliance, imposed sanctions, and enforce the Colorado Violation Decision Making Process (CVDMP).
  • Present case information for evidentiary hearings, including COPDs, parole revocation hearings, YOS revocation proceedings, and Interstate Compact hearings.
  • Attend training on supervisory techniques and maintain proficiency in firearms, arrest control, CPR, and first aid.
  • Operate on a 24/7 on‑call or call‑back basis and perform duties as a PEACE Officer, including arrests and transport.
  • Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree (upload unofficial transcripts with name, institution, degree, and date).
  • OR a combination of coursework and professional experience in criminal justice, corrections, social work, or counseling equal to four (4) years.
  • Must possess and maintain a current valid Colorado POST certification (or equivalent) via provisional process or Federal Reciprocity program before hiring.
  • Must be at least 21 years old, have a valid driver’s license, and no felony convictions or domestic violence history.
  • Physically and mentally capable of defensive tactics, firearms, and on‑call duties as outlined in the posting.

  • Self‑control and emotional resilience in stressful and potentially violent situations.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer‑service, and communication skills.
  • Ability to remain alert, organized, and prioritize work under pressure.
  • Ability to balance public safety with re‑entry goals, work with high‑risk populations, and adapt to technology.
  • Experience with evidence‑based practices and motivational interviewing is desired.
