Universal Banker

Summary

The position of Universal Banker is responsible for performing routine branch duties, ensuring the maintenance of the Sauk Valley Bank customer service culture and standards. This role requires full knowledge of bank products and services and the ability to identify and execute cross‑selling opportunities. Universal Bankers must also assure compliance with all SVB policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations.

• Maintain a high level of service delivery for retail banking products and services within the banking office, aligned with the "Hug Your Customer" standard.
• Independently make sound decisions based on Bank policies, knowledge, and experience.
• Perform all teller functions in accordance with bank policies and procedures.
• Process consumer loan applications and facilitate the consumer lending process.
• Perform personal banking functions, including opening, servicing, and closing deposit transaction accounts.
• Open, service, and close certificates of deposit, IRAs, and H.S.A. accounts.
• Open and close branches as assigned.
• Represent SVB at bank-sponsored events.

• High school diploma or GED; one year of cash handling and customer service experience in a financial institution.
• Bilingual preferred but not required.
• Intermediate experience and knowledge of branch operations, terminology, products, and services.
• Knowledge of state and federal banking compliance regulations and SVB operational policies.
• Understanding of principles and processes for customer and personal services, including needs assessment and quality standards.
• Strong knowledge of general office practices and intermediate math skills.
• Effective oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
• Excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
• Ability to work with general supervision while performing duties.
• Current driver’s license and vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage if required for driving duties.
• Must be capable of performing duties safely, without endangering personal health or the safety of others.
