Position Overview
The Quality Test Technician II supports activities related to quality and process improvement at the manufacturing site in Sterling, Illinois. The role involves setting up lab test equipment and conducting tests on parts using drawings and specifications, ensuring timely completion of test projects and schedules. Progress reports and test results should be maintained clearly and approved by the QA Supervisor or Coordinator.
This position collaborates closely with Design Engineering, Quality, Production, and Materials departments to ensure products are manufactured according to specifications and timelines. It functions both independently and as part of a team in a typical office and manufacturing environment with moderate noise levels.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Inspection & Testing
- Create and improve inspection plans for receiving, in-process, first article, and final inspections.
- Inspect, check, and test materials, parts, and products during various production stages using work instructions, blueprints, and specifications.
- Maintain and calibrate measurement gauges.
- Validate products after outside processing for conformity.
- Ensure electrical testing accuracy in collaboration with plant personnel.
- Process testing of AN’s for current weekly.
Training & Support
- Train employees on inspection plans, procedures, and GD&T and gaging methodologies.
- Assist in programming and maintaining test equipment.
- Provide backup coverage for QA Supervisors/Managers and auditors.
Coordination & Communication
- Work with engineering, inspection, and production teams to ensure product conformance.
- Handle customer return authorizations and coordinate credit memos.
- Report work-related issues to management and participate in internal audits.
Quality Management & Process Improvement
- Maintain and review the quality management system and inspection plans.
- Assist with CAPA activities and disposition of non-conforming materials.
- Test returned materials and analyze root causes for RMA returns, implementing preventive actions.
- Support process validation activities, including data collection and analysis.
- Manage calibration systems and improve safety measures.
- Assist troubleshooting product processes.
General & Safety Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Follow all safety rules and policies.

- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
- Basic electricity knowledge, preferably related to transformers.
- Over 2 years of Lean experience, UL, and ISO 9001 experience.
- Proficient in reading/interpreting prints and using measurement devices.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Familiarity with Micron products, production processes, and Microsoft Office.
- Fluent in English, with the ability to interpret technical documents.

Compensation: $45,000-$50,000 per year
