ESL (English as a Second Language) and Spanish Teacher
Frontline Applicant Tracking - RE-1 Valley SchoolsFTE: 1.0 (32-40 hours per week)
Work Schedule: 167 scheduled working days (8.0 hours/day), 4-day school week
Salary Range: $44,000 minimum depending on experience
Position OverviewThe English as a Second Language (ESL) and Spanish Teacher will design and teach lessons to develop student understanding of written and spoken English and Spanish. The role includes instruction in both languages, tailoring lesson plans, and assessing student progress.
Duties and Responsibilities- Assess student comprehension and fluency with written and spoken English and Spanish.
- Design dynamic lessons to support language development.
- Provide instruction in small groups and conversational classes.
- Research and implement effective teaching methods and language games.
- Organize feedback sessions with students and parents.
- Collaborate with mainstream classroom teachers and co‑teach.
- Monitor language development and academic performance in conjunction with mainstream teachers.
- Serve as a resource for administrators and classroom teachers.
- Advocate for English and Spanish Language Learners and their families.
- Model, support and promote rigorous instruction and high standards for ESL and Spanish students.
- Integrate technology to support instruction and individualize learning.
- Maintain required records and uphold district policies.
- Bachelor's Degree in the content area or enrollment in a program leading toward such degree.
- Current Colorado teaching license or application in process with appropriate endorsement, or a valid Colorado Substitute Teaching License and enrollment in an alternative licensure program.
- Bilingual ability;
English and Spanish required. - Experience as an ESL or Spanish teacher preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, able to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Flexible and adaptive teaching style.
- Understanding of language development and strategies.
- Prolonged periods of sitting or standing.
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
