Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs.
  • Active certification with ARDMS and current compliance with CME requirements.
  • Preferably experience with Breast Ultrasound and Diagnostic Procedure.
Day in the Life of a Diagnostic Sonographer
  • Produces high-quality ultrasound images and obtains appropriate measurements for each exam.
  • Maintains a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique.
  • Communicates with the radiologist and performs any necessary additional exams.
  • Documents all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly.
  • Explains procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation.
  • Monitors patients during all phases of the procedure with special care to ensure patient emotional and physical well-being.
  • Assists and/or chaperones radiologist during ultrasound exams.
  • Assists radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures using appropriate sterile technique and universal precautions.
  • Communicates patient information professionally and courteously to patients and referring physicians' offices as required.
  • Maintains the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness and ensures proper equipment maintenance and safety.
  • Maintains a good working relationship with Radiologists and other Center staff members.
