Data Center Operations - Asset Management

12 Month Contract USC or GC Preferred

The Data Center ALM Technician is an entry-level role responsible for supporting the day-to-day tracking, documentation, and lifecycle management of IT hardware assets in a mission-critical data center. This includes assisting with receiving, inventory control, deployments, decommissions, and proper disposal of assets while following established procedures and compliance requirements. The ALM Technician ensures accuracy of records and supports the smooth flow of equipment through its full lifecycle.

• Assist with receiving, unpacking, labeling, and tagging of incoming IT equipment.
• Update asset records in the asset management system (e.g., CMDB, DCIM, or ITSM tools).
• Support regular physical audits of racks, storage, and spare parts to ensure data accuracy.
• Track asset movements, ensuring proper check-in/out processes.

• Help with staging and preparing equipment for deployment into production environments.
• Support decommissioning processes, including hardware removal, labeling for disposal, and coordinating secure transport.
• Follow data sanitization procedures for drives and storage devices (under supervision).
• Maintain chain-of-custody documentation for all decommissioned or disposed assets.

• Provide parts and spares to Break/Fix and Deployment teams upon request.
• Log asset-related incidents or discrepancies in the ticketing system.
• Assist with warranty/RMA processing by coordinating with senior technicians or vendors.

• Follow corporate policies for secure handling, storage, and movement of data-bearing devices. Ensure documentation and record-keeping is audit-ready at all times.
