CACI is currently looking for a motivated, career and customer-oriented Network Engineer with Agile methodology experience to join our Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Land Border Integration (LBI) Integrated Traveler Initiative ITI
2.1 team in Northern Virginia. Join this passionate team supporting best practices in Agile Software Development and hardware integration for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

2.1 Team, you will support the men and women charged with safeguarding the American people and enhancing the Nation’s safety, security, and prosperity. CBP Officers and Border Patrol agents are on the front lines, every day, protecting our national security by combining customs, immigration, border security, and agricultural protection into one coordinated and supportive activity.

What you’ll get to do- Design, implement, and maintain the network architecture for ITI
2.1 test systems, including connections to the CBP network and support for Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager and Active Directory - Direct, monitor, and translate business requirements for network hardware and software solutions to support enhancements and modernization efforts for ITI
2.1 network operations - Contribute to Basis of Estimate (BOE) and Bill of Materials (BOM) buildups
- Support creation and update of documentation including Interconnection Security Agreements, System Requirements Documents, System Design Documents, System Maintenance Plans, and Site-specific documentation
- Develop network designs and comprehensive site analysis
- Research, evaluate, and recommend new network equipment and technologies
- Support escalation and root cause analysis activities
- Support preparation of test reports and Implementation Plans for each change impacting the WAN/LAN/MAN environment
- Interface with customers to collect and clarify networking requirements
- Utilize monitoring, performance analysis, network management software and hardware equipment to troubleshoot and isolate problems, gauge network performance, and trace data and protocol activity
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, investigate, and resolve issues with network connectivity and latency
- Manage network communications testing, installation, and support for the MAN/WAN system
- Support patch deployment and remediation
- Mentor and provide guidance to network team members
- Provide recommendations to enhance and improve network performance
- Interface with vendors, helpdesks, and field support personnel during outages or periods of degraded system performance
- Provide internal consulting, technical guidance, information, and support to application developers, help desk, and field support staff
- Assist in internal training programs
- Provide Tier IV escalation support of CBP’s Enterprise Wide Area Network Infrastructure
- Troubleshoot multiple MPLS networks in a highly secure environment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to pass CBP background investigation, criteria includes, but not limited to: 3-year check for felony convictions; 1-year check for illegal drug use; 1-year check for misconduct such as theft or fraud
- College degree (B.S.) in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Information Management Systems, or a related discipline and 10+ years of related experience
- Must be available to work a hybrid schedule with an on-site requirement in Sterling, VA
- Experience with Cisco routing/switching configuration and troubleshooting to the CCNP level, ASRs, Generation 2, and routers, Cisco NGFWs, and F5 Load Balancers
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
- IP experience (to include sub-netting and routing), IPv4/IPv6
- BGP experience required
- EIGRP and OSPF routing
- Virtual Routing and Forwarding (VRF)
