The Data Center Technician role involves in-depth hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and participation in an on-call rotation.
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to customer services. We work on challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain, and we are looking for talented people who want to help.
You ll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You ll collaborate across AWS to deliver safety and security standards while providing high capacity at low cost for customers. Responsibilities- Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, and carry out routine repairs to contribute to AWS service availability
- Serve as primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors
- Perform on-call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues
- Assist in interviewing, training, and onboarding new team members
- Lifting and moving material up to 40 pounds
- Working in cramped and/or elevated locations
- Bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching
- Standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely
- Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations (covering both night and day shifts)
- The role may be assigned to facilities still under development and could require travel to established locations for training until the site is fully operational
- Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed
- Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until the assigned facility is operational
- Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and facility status
Candidates must be able to travel (over 50 miles) or commute (less than 50 miles) to active data center sites as required by business needs.

You will be required to work shift work that includes days/nights/weekends/holidays.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications- 1+ years of computer networking experience
- 1+ years of Linux operating systems experience
- Bachelor s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Experience in computer networking
- Experience working with Linux operating systems
- Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds
- Experience with computer hardware troubleshooting and repair
