Connected Systems Architect – Manufacturing & OT

Shape the backbone of connected engineering at Kform Step into a typical day: you review an overnight change proposal in Git, verify automated tests for a network segmentation update, and walk the manufacturing floor to validate a new edge gateway talking to a PLC and a test stand. Back at your workstation, you refine Ansible playbooks and Terraform/Open Tofu modules, then pair with a software engineer to finalize an API mapping into ERP and quality systems.

In the afternoon, you meet cybersecurity to confirm logging and access boundaries for controlled technical data, document the rollout plan and rollback path, and finish by updating runbooks and diagrams before the change window.

What you’ll do Design end-to-end physical and logical architectures across offices, labs, production lines, and customer or field sites — including on‑premises, edge, and intermittently connected scenarios.

Configure and administer switches, firewalls, Wi‑Fi, servers, endpoints, gateways, identity and access services, and related infrastructure.

Define segmentation, routing, addressing, access paths, and data flows bridging enterprise IT, operational technology (OT), test systems, and external services.

Treat infrastructure, networks, access, and deployments as versioned code wherever practical; build automation for provisioning, configuration, validation, backup, and recovery.

Use Git-driven reviews and change control to test, approve, document, and reproduce system changes; maintain baselines with clear rollback options.

Integrate machines, sensors, controllers, edge computers, and test equipment with engineering, ERP, quality, and other business applications; specify interfaces and coordinate custom APIs/services with internal developers and vendors.

Establish device onboarding, asset inventory, configuration, patching, monitoring, backup, and recovery practices that respect uptime, equipment constraints, and operator safety.

Safeguard controlled unclassified and export-controlled information via sound boundaries, access controls, logging, and evidentiary documentation in partnership with cybersecurity and program owners.

Troubleshoot across networks, operating systems, devices, automation, and application interfaces; validate integrations in labs and on the manufacturing floor.

Keep diagrams, inventories, interface definitions, configuration records, runbooks, and change documentation current; support quality management system processes.

Plan deployments, manage dependencies, and resolve issues alongside manufacturing, engineering, quality, cybersecurity, software, and IT partners.

Minimum qualifications

Bachelor’s in IT, Computer/ Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent proven experience.

Hands-on experience designing, administering, and troubleshooting networked infrastructure and systems.

Deep fluency with TCP/IP, switching, routing, VLANs, DNS, DHCP, firewalls, and network segmentation.

Practical experience with infrastructure as code, configuration management, and scripting/automation; comfortable managing definitions and changes in Git and debugging both automation and the underlying infrastructure.

Administration experience with Windows and/or Linux, identity and access, monitoring, backups, and recovery.

Background integrating physical devices/equipment with networked and application ecosystems, including defining and validating interfaces and data flows.

Ability to own an infrastructure or integration change from architecture through implementation, validation, documentation, and operational handoff.

Clear technical writing and cross‑disciplinary troubleshooting across IT and OT.Preferred qualifications
