Job Overview

DXI Construction Company is seeking a physically capable Pipelayer to work full days on wet utilities projects in Washington DC. The role involves excavation, pipe installation, and coordination with equipment operators and supervisors.

• Perform physical construction tasks such as digging ditches, back filling excavations, shoveling and raking asphalt, and compacting earth to grade specifications.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors/foreman using verbal and written methods, and follow provided construction plan sets.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
• Set final trench grades by hand digging or using trenching tools.
• Load, unload, identify, and distribute utility materials to the appropriate location according to project plans and specifications.
• Read and utilize Cut Sheets to position, align, and lay out differing pipe routes.
• Connect water and sewer pipe fittings, including PVC push‑on fittings, ductile iron mechanical joint fittings, and required restraint mechanisms.
• Install proper bell joint restraint using bell harnesses and a joint restraint table.
• Set trench boxes and perform pipe installations, using mechanical tampering equipment or hand tools as needed.

• Reliable transportation to work sites and willingness to work full days.
• Ability to travel to different site locations.
• Capability to work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold).
• Safety conscious individual with adherence to safety protocols.
• Strong physical stamina: frequently lift and carry tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds; lift a minimum of 50 pounds; stoop, kneel, and crouch as required.
• Team oriented and works well with others.
• Good vision and hearing (either naturally or with correction).
