VMG is seeking an experienced Field Commissioning & Balancing Technician with a strong background in sheet metal and ductwork installation. Position OverviewVMG is seeking an experienced Field Commissioning & Balancing Technician with a strong background in sheet metal and ductwork installation. This role involves testing, adjusting, and balancing commercial HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and compliance with design specifications. Candidates with hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, duct installation, and system start-up will excel in this position, as their skills provide valuable insight into airflow dynamics and system functionality.
ResponsibilitiesPerform and document all phases of air and hydronic balancing for HVAC systems.
Measure and adjust airflow, pressures, and temperatures using industry-standard tools.
Apply sheet metal knowledge to troubleshoot ductwork and airflow issues.
Collaborate with installers to ensure duct systems are properly sealed, aligned, and balanced.
Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and submittals.
Identify system deficiencies and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare clear and accurate TAB reports in line with NEBB, AABC, or equivalent standards.
Work with project managers, engineers, and field teams to deliver high-quality results.
3+ years of HVAC or TAB field experience, with sheet metal/ductwork background strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of HVAC system operation and airflow principles.
Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
Proficiency with TAB instruments and reporting software.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
NEBB, AABC, or TABB certification preferred (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
