Overview
Seasonal Contract Registered Nurse, Med Surg/ Tele at Trinity Health System. The RN provides care requiring specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills based on the nursing process, using assessment skills to support multidisciplinary patient care and teamwork in accordance with practice guidelines, unit policies, and regulatory standards.
EssentialKey Job Responsibilities
- ASSESSMENT:
Performs complete patient assessment; recognizes significant changes in patient status and seeks appropriate resources; coordinates or collects physiologic monitoring data (vital signs, monitor results, labs, and diagnostic tests); documents assessment in compliance with hospital policy. - MAINTAINING PLAN OF CARE:
Initiates the Patient Goal/Problem List or Clinical Path on admission; develops and evaluates the Plan of Care to support patient goals and medical plan; collaborates with multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and documents patient response to the plan. - MAINTAINING PATIENT TREATMENTS:
Obtains/verifies all physician orders; ensures consent documentation for procedures/therapies/research; ensures supplies are available; performs or assists with procedures and therapies; assesses medication needs and patient allergies; administers and documents medications; monitors data for accuracy and completeness; coordinates communication among patient, family, and care team; supports cost containment and appropriate length of stay. - TEACHING:
Assesses knowledge and readiness to learn; provides education with multidisciplinary team; documents patient education and evaluates teaching effectiveness. - LEADERSHIP:
Participates in peer review; supports orientation of team members, PRN staff and students; delegates assignments based on census and unit needs; maintains knowledge of policies and practice updates; demonstrates accountability and effective collaboration. - UNIT-SPECIFIC
COMPETENCIES:
Provides care using evidence-based practice; ensures unit certifications and CPI requirements are met within specified time frames; meets yearly skill requirements.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Must have 1 year of Med Surg/ Tele experience.
- Must be clinically competent in one of the following areas:
Emergency Department, Critical Care, OB.
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse license in the state of Ohio or multistate licensure.
- BLS required within 30 days of hire.
- Knowledge and skills appropriate to newborn to older adult populations; strong communication and interpersonal abilities; ability to work with multidisciplinary teams; effective decision making, assessment, and critical thinking; leadership and delegation capabilities for prioritizing patient care based on census and unit needs.
