The Company Our client is a well-established contractor delivering projects across the residential, commercial, and mixed-use sectors throughout Hertfordshire and the wider Home Counties. With a strong secured pipeline and a reputation for quality delivery, they're now looking to appoint a Project QS to take ownership of the commercial function on a live scheme.
The Role Take full commercial responsibility for an individual project, from post-contract through to final account
Prepare monthly cost/value reconciliations (CVRs) and report on project profitability
Manage subcontractor procurement, including enquiries, comparisons, and order placement
Value works completed and process subcontractor payments in line with contract terms
Measure, price, and agree variations with the client/main contractor
Prepare and negotiate final accounts with both client and subcontractors
Identify commercial risks and opportunities, escalating to the Commercial/Contracts Manager as needed
Liaise closely with site management to ensure commercial and operational alignment
Support the wider commercial team on tender adjudications and cost planning where required
About You Previous experience as a Project QS, ideally within [main contracting / fit-out / groundworks — insert package type]Sound knowledge of JCT and/or NEC forms of contract
Strong commercial acumen with experience managing full project life cycles
Confident communicator, comfortable liaising with clients, subcontractors, and site teams
Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
Full UK driving licence
