Job overview:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and committed consultant to join our vibrant Diabetes and Endocrine team at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust. The role requires providing specialist clinics in diabetes and endocrinology, contributing to general medical ward and diabetes outreach care, and participating in the acute medicine on call rota.
- Maintenance of high-quality patient-centered care
- Shared responsibility for the day-to-day management of the service and participation in strategic planning
- Teaching and training within the multidisciplinary service
- Active involvement in multidisciplinary team meetings and directorate clinical governance activity
- Active participation in continuing medical education
- Entry on GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register
- College Membership (MRCP) or qualification of an equivalent level
- Advanced Life Support or demonstration of ability to achieve ALS immediately upon appointment
- Postgraduate academic degree
- Broad range of experience in Diabetes and Endocrinology and experience of Acute General Medicine
- Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues
- Ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion
- Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice
- Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and learning from errors
- Evidence engagement with appraisal and revalidation
You must have appropriate UK professional registration. The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
