Based in Bristol or Stevenage Hybrid role

FPGA, MPSoC, High‑Performance Electronics

Are you a senior hardware engineer who enjoys solving complex problems at the cutting edge of digital electronics?

We’re looking for a High Speed Digital & Hardware Design Lead to take technical ownership of advanced FPGA‑based hardware used in data‑intensive, real‑time systems. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role for someone who wants to design, influence, and lead, while continuing to deepen their expertise.

What you’ll be doing
  • Leading the design and development of complex, high‑speed digital hardware
  • Working with state‑of‑the‑art MPSoC FPGAs and AI acceleration hardware
  • Designing hardware for high‑performance signal processing applications (e.g. SDR, radar, sensor‑based systems)
  • Owning the digital hardware architecture from concept through to production
  • Collaborating closely with systems, software, firmware, mechanical, and production teams
  • Supporting technical decision‑making and design trade‑offs across the full product lifecycle
  • Driving high standards in design quality, documentation, and delivery

This role offers a clear path to becoming a recognised technical authority within your field.

What we’re looking for
  • Strong background in complex, high‑speed digital electronics design
  • Proven experience with FPGA / MPSoC‑based hardware
  • Hands‑on design experience with DDR memory, Flash, and high‑speed serial interfaces
  • Experience with Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis
  • Comfortable supporting board‑level test, bring‑up, and debug
Technical skills
  • VHDL experience (for test and debug support)
  • C, C++ or Python for hardware test, diagnostics, or automation
  • Solid understanding of hardware architectures and data‑flow
Nice to have
  • Exposure to DSP concepts, SDR, radar, or sensor‑based systems
  • Experience working in complex, multi‑disciplinary engineering environments
What sets you apart
  • You enjoy being the technical go‑to person
  • You can balance hands‑on design with technical leadership
  • You thrive in collaborative environments and enjoy influencing outcomes
  • You care deeply about elegant, robust, and well‑documented designs
Why this role?
  • Work on technically challenging, high‑performance systems
  • Take ownership of meaningful, real‑world hardware
  • Grow your career as a technical lead and subject‑matter expert
  • Be part of a highly skilled engineering environment where your expertise genuinely matters
