Weapon System Performance Capability Lead

Automatic promotion is not guaranteed. The role is dynamic: 4 days per week on site, due to workload classification.

Reporting to the Weapon System Algorithms & Performance (WSAP) Head of Department, you will lead and manage the group of engineers responsible for assessing the performance of our weapon systems. The team uses complex models and high‑performance computing environments to analyze the behaviour of a weapon system across a variety of conditions influencing the design and usage of our products. This is a role for someone looking to lead a team and build a key capability, instrumental to the success of our weapon systems.

The team currently comprises approximately 12 engineers working across a number of projects and is expected to grow in the short term to meet increasing demand.

• Lead a group of specialist engineers with varying levels of experience, building a high‑performing, enduring and inclusive capability.
• Develop a compelling vision for the capability, including future developments.
• Manage recruitment, staff development, knowledge management, capacity planning and objective setting.
• Apply knowledge of the system engineering lifecycle.
• Provide pragmatic technical leadership on emergent topics and bids.
• Build effective and enduring stakeholder interfaces with project customers and other engineering functions.
