Salary

Circa £55,000 (depending on experience)

Dynamic (hybrid) working

Task dependant but expected to be circa 3 days per week on-site

Opportunity

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Mechanical Future Concepts Team. You will work on research and development projects to enhance MBDA's mechanical technologies and capabilities.

You will work on a wide range of mechanical engineering disciplines, propose future research topics, obtain funding, collaborate with SMEs and academia, and participate in multi‑national projects with international travel.

Qualifications
  • Ideally Degree/HND/HNC qualified plus experience in mechanical design, particularly in research and development, and a track record of inserting technology into products
  • Capable of managing work packages, rapid development activities and autonomous working
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders across the business
  • Willing, helpful attitude and calm professional manner, able to set priorities and deal with multiple issues
  • Experience of technology development and collaborating with SMEs and academia
  • An understanding of the structural and thermal considerations of mechanical design
  • Experience of composite design would also be advantageous
  • Relevant 3D CAD/CAE experience (training on our preferred CAE tools will be given)
