Due to increased workload, the Mechanical Analysis Group is looking for an experienced stress engineer to lead the structural design and development of a next generation complex weapon platform. You will collaborate closely with multi‑disciplinary teams across our UK sites to develop an advanced aerospace structural solution.
Salary: Circa £58,000 depending on experience
Location: Stevenage (relocation package may be offered for this role)
Working arrangement: Hybrid – Minimum 3 days per week on site due to workload classification
Security clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship. Candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) and Security Clearance (SC) checks.

The Mechanical Analysis Group is responsible for the structural and thermal performance of MBDA's military systems. We deliver structural and thermal analysis expertise across the whole product lifecycle from early concept studies to detailed design development, manufacturing concessions and in‑service support. The role offers experience across classical hand calculations, CAE modelling (static, dynamic, fatigue, aero‑elastics, non‑linear, impact, kinematic), qualification & design testing, fault investigation and load derivation.
Whatwe're looking for from you
- Degree qualified in a relevant engineering or science discipline, or significant experience in a relevant field (e.g., Mechanical, Aerospace, Structural Analysis).
- Proven experience estimating, planning, leading and delivering a variety of structural analysis work packages, using classical hand calculation methods and CAE tools (Hyperworks desirable).
- Demonstrated ability in preparing and presenting comprehensive technical reports to stakeholders, including senior management.
- Proactive and passionate about developing and improving methods, processes and tools.
- Experience mentoring and supporting junior engineers, providing technical expertise and fostering professional growth.
- Self‑motivated problem solver, capable of taking responsibility and working independently as well as within a multi‑disciplinary team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to network, influence and manage internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in composite stress analysis is an asset.
- Willingness to obtain and hold DV clearance is an asset.
