Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Stevenage | 4 Days Onsite | 6-Month Contract | Up to £55 per Hour (Inside IR35)
A leading engineering and technology organisation is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its highly skilled engineering team on an initial 6-month contract basis.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on technically complex products, supporting the design, development and delivery of cutting-edge engineering solutions. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, you will be involved in the full product lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through to testing, manufacturing support and product validation.

Responsibilities

Produce 3D CAD models, detailed drawings and technical documentation using Creo.
Carry out mechanical design activities for components and assemblies.
Support manufacturing teams in resolving design and production issues.
Contribute to design reviews and engineering assessments.
Support environmental, functional and qualification testing activities.
Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve technical queries.
Perform tolerance analysis, material selection and design calculations where required.
Ensure designs meet performance, quality and manufacturing requirements.

Essential Experience

Strong experience using Creo (PTC Creo) for mechanical design.
Background in the design of mechanical components and assemblies.
Experience producing engineering drawings and technical documentation.
Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
