Job OverviewFinance Analyst – Costing, within the Trust’s Financial Planning & Costing team. A key part of decision‑making, shaping the future of our costing services.
Main DutiesReporting to the Costing Finance Manager; support preparation and presentation of the Trust’s service line reporting and patient‑level information and cost reports; facilitate transition to cost‑based funding mechanisms; identify productivity and efficiency opportunities; lead collection and validation of financial and activity data; develop processes to improve costing outputs.

- Completed AAT Technician Stage or in progress for a CCAB/CIMA qualification
- Degree or equivalent
- Experience working in NHS financial management or costing
- Experience working with and analysing large complex datasets
- Familiar with presenting complex information to a range of stakeholders, including non‑finance professionals
- Experience with acute provider NHS costing data; service line reporting (SLR) and/or patient level information & cost systems (PLICs)
- Experience of using SQL Server Management Studio
- Experience of building and maintaining reports in Power BI
- IT literate & proficient in Microsoft packages including Excel, Word and advanced keyboard skills
- Ability to apply knowledge to workload and demonstrate analytical skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Good SQL query writing skills
- Understanding of accounting procedures, financial systems and general ledger
- Understanding of NHS finance regime and environment
- Knowledge of NHS costing standards and principles
- Understanding of NHS SUS & HES activity reporting
- Understanding of, and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion
