Waiting List Officer – Surgical Admissions
OverviewWe are recruiting for a Waiting List Officer – Surgical Admissions who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.
The Waiting List Team books all elective surgery for our patients, ensuring that waiting times are fair and equitable and in order of clinical urgency.
Our aim is to fully utilise our operating theatre lists which is one of our most valuable resources.
You will join a team of Waiting List Officers within the Planned Care Division at the East & North Herts NHS Trust in Stevenage.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will be required to deal with waiting lists and admissions for a specific group of patients, work with patient target lists and deal with a high volume of telephone calls and enquiries.
You will ensure that all patients case notes and x-ray files required for patients attending for their procedures/operations are traced and prepared in advance of the date of attendance and that the relevant documentation is available for use by clinical and nursing staff.
Identify patients on the Patient Administration System.

- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
- Ability to work within a team but using own initiative when required.
- Experience dealing directly with patients and liaising closely with surgical, nursing and other staff as well as GP practices and Independent Sector providers.
- Experience managing high volume of telephone calls and enquiries.
- Ability to prepare documentation for clinical and nursing staff.
Requires working on Fridays; however, we are flexible regarding the other days.

- Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC), Northwood
