Are you an enthusiastic dietitian with an interest in working with adults in the acute setting?
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic dietitian to become part of the Acute dietetic team at Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust (HCT), working at Lister Hospital in East and North Hertfordshire.
This role is 9 months fixed term maternity cover. The successful candidate will work as part of the broader HCT Nutrition and Dietetic Service, which is Hertfordshire wide, delivering an inpatient service to a number of specialties.
Main duties of the jobThe role focuses on inpatient and outpatient work including experience in the following areas:
- ITU
- Enteral and parenteral feeding in specialist areas such as stroke and gastroenterology
The post holder will work as an independent practitioner using a specialist level of knowledge and skills in the provision of a dietetic service to a large load of inpatients and outpatients including critical care, stroke and gastroenterology.
The role will involve providing support and training for newly qualified / student dietitians.
Person Specification Qualifications and Training- BSc Nutrition and Dietetics degree or equivalent
- Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council
- Attained or working towards a postgraduate qualification in a specialist area or evidence of significant experience in a specialist area.
- Member of the British Dietetic Association
- Evidence of a clinical portfolio in both inpatient and outpatient settings, working with complex patients
- Up to date knowledge of dietetic practice
- IT literate
- Evidence of CPD and commitment to life‑long learning
- Experience of supervising or mentoring students
- Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary health care setting
- Experience working with parenterally fed patients.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Ability to use own initiative and work independently
- Good motivational skills
- Ability to reflect and appraise own performance
- Ability to interpret clinical policies/guidelines within a highly specialist field
- Behaviour change / motivational interviewing skills
- Presentation and teaching skills

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Salary: £39,959 to £48,117 a year per annum, pro rata
