We are seeking to recruit a Team Leader to join our Inpatients Team Leaders within the Acute & Urgent Care Division. The role will be based at Aston ward in Stevenage. The design of our wards have drawn upon international best practice to create a healing and therapeutic environment to support people on their recovery journey from mental illness. All rooms have en-suite facilities giving service users greater privacy and dignity.

Service users will have support from an experienced clinical team and access to meaningful activities both indoor and outdoor. You will be an experienced Mental Health Registered Nurse with excellent assessment and risk management skills who is able to embrace and drive change and innovation. We are looking for a skilled and intuitive communicator with experience of providing leadership. You will work directly with the Matron who will provide support, development and direction alongside other leadership colleagues. You will know the importance of providing high-quality supervision and of working together with staff and the wider management team in providing supportive, effective and coordinated leadership to the team in order to achieve the best possible outcomes for service users and carers.,

  • RNMH/RNLD/RMN
  • Degree with experience of post graduate level study or the equivalent experience
  • ENB 998/Mentorship
  • evidence of management or leadership development
  • NMC
  • Teaching/training experience, Management of staff in a multiprofessional setting
  • Extensive post registration experience, at band 5 and band 6
  • Detailed awareness of issues in inpatient service areas - legislation, DoH guidance, NPSA, PEAT, CQC, NHSLA, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act including an understanding of standards
  • Ability to provide clinical supervision, appraisal, preceptorship and staff support methods
  • Knowledge in current developments in mental health or learning disabilities care
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in other care settings, Recognises and reflects on barriers to effective communication, modifying communication in response
  • De escalation in managing verbal aggression of disturbed service users
  • Keeps accurate and complete records and communication consistent with legislation, policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate good verbal presentation skills
  • Ability to chair meetings effectively
  • Excellent communicator., Demonstrate good decision making skills
  • Flexible and responsive approach to care
  • Knowledge and ability to positively manage change
  • Ability to identify and manage changes to clinical risks
  • Ability to produce reports e.g. related to complaints, investigations, SIs, audits etc
  • Able to manage a budget effectively, You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
