The Enterprise Platform Lead is accountable for leading and developing the organisation’s enterprise low-code and SaaS engineering capability, bringing together specialist platform engineering resources across technologies including Pega, Salesforce, SAP, and enterprise integration tooling (e.g. Mule Soft, Boomi and equivalent platforms).
This is a senior leadership role responsible for departmental leadership, engineering standards, capability development, and line management of specialist low-code platform engineers and integration specialists. Engineers within the department will typically be matrix-managed for day-to-day delivery, working within project teams under delivery and solution leadership, while remaining aligned to departmental standards, development pathways, and governance.
The role will work closely with Solution Architects, delivery teams, Cloud Engineering, Data, QA, and stakeholders to ensure consistent quality, supportability, and long-term maintainability across enterprise platforms and integrations, including cloud-based low-code SaaS applications delivered in cloud-hosted environments. The role is expected to operate in a cloud-agnostic manner, supporting platforms deployed across different cloud technologies depending on client and programme requirements.
Responsibilities- Lead the Enterprise Platform department, including low-code platform engineers and integration specialists (e.g. Pega System Architects, Salesforce platform engineers, Epic platform engineers, Mule Soft/Boomi specialists).
- Provide direct line management, including performance reviews, coaching, development planning, and ongoing career development support.
- Build a strong engineering culture across the department, fostering collaboration, knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and consistent ways of working.
- Define, own, and enforce engineering and solution design standards across enterprise platforms and integrations, including governance, documentation standards, release controls, reuse patterns, and integration design guidelines.
- Provide technical leadership and design assurance across discovery and delivery, supporting Solution Architects and project teams with best practice guidance and consistency across implementations.
- Lead integration governance and assurance, including API/interface design principles, endpoint catalogues, documentation expectations, and cross-system dependency management.
- Oversee platform and integration workflow configuration standards and change control expectations, ensuring changes are controlled, traceable, and aligned to agreed governance processes.
- Manage capability planning across multiple projects, ensuring appropriate resourcing, skills coverage, onboarding, and identification of skills gaps and training needs.
- Collaborate closely with Solution Architects, Cloud Engineers, Data, QA, business analysts, and stakeholders to support delivery planning, manage risks and dependencies, and resolve cross-team issues.
- Support transition to the Tech Ops team by ensuring appropriate support documentation, ownership clarity, and effective handover into service.
- Significant experience leading enterprise low-code and platform-based teams, including exposure to platforms such as Pega, Salesforce and/or SAP.
- Experience supporting cloud-based low-code SaaS applications and platform services deployed in cloud-hosted environments.
- Strong experience overseeing enterprise integrations using technologies such as Mule Soft, Boomi, or equivalent iPaaS / middleware platforms.
- Proven experience setting and governing engineering standards across platform and integration teams, including design assurance and technical governance.
- Demonstrable line management experience, including performance management, coaching, and capability development for technical specialists.
