An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Tool Maker to join an established manufacturing team within a specialist engineering environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, manufacture, maintenance and repair of precision tooling, moulds, jigs and fixtures, supporting efficient and high-quality production.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong mechanical background, excellent attention to detail and experience working with precision machining, fabrication and tooling applications.
Key Duties:- Design and develop tooling, jigs and fixtures using CAD software, including AutoCAD, Solid Works or equivalent.
- Manufacture and modify precision tooling using milling, grinding, welding, fabrication and assembly techniques.
- Maintain, repair and modify existing tools and moulds to maximise performance and service life.
- Operate a range of hand tools, workshop machinery and fabrication equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and dimensional requirements.
- Work closely with production teams to understand tooling requirements and resolve manufacturing or tooling issues.
- Carry out quality checks and dimensional inspections to ensure tooling meets required tolerances and standards.
- Support troubleshooting and problem‑solving activities relating to tooling and production equipment.
- Record tooling modifications, repairs and manufacturing procedures accurately.
- Proven experience working as a Tool Maker, Toolmaker, Tooling Engineer or similar within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong practical machining experience, including milling and grinding.
- Experience with welding, fabrication and mechanical assembly.
- Good working knowledge of CAD software such as AutoCAD, Solid Works or equivalent.
- Mechanical knowledge and practical experience relating to plastics injection moulding and tooling.
- Confident using hand tools, workshop machinery and fabrication equipment.
- Ability to accurately interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Strong understanding of precision manufacturing and working to tight tolerances.
- £36,000-£42,000 per annum, depending on experience.
