We are recruiting for a Chief Cardiac Physiologist who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

Our Cardiac Physiology team at Lister Hospital is committed to delivering high-quality diagnostic testing with the utmost patient care. The team comprises four accredited physiologists and seven more working towards accreditation, including apprentices, associates, and senior physiologists. We cover all aspects of invasive cardiology including conduction pacing and Bi-Ventricular pacing.

As Chief Cardiac Physiologist, you will play a crucial role in supporting the development of our team and enhancing our services, mentoring and guiding colleagues while ensuring services evolve to meet the highest standards of care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and support a busy pacing clinic, managing approximately 300 face-to-face appointments and 1,000 remote follow-ups each month for loops, brady, and complex devices.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to perform 700 PCI procedures and 250 Primary PCI procedures annually.
• Support the implantation of around 300 devices each year.

• Professional development opportunities, including conferences and regular in-house training.

• BSc Clinical Physiology or Health Professions Council registration or recognised precursor
• Postgraduate profession related qualification, e.g., IHBRE or HRUK/BSE
• Substantial post qualification experience within cardiology
• Member of Heart Rhythm Society UK/BSE
• RCCP registered ILS
• Accredited Member of the Society of Cardiological Science and Technology or equivalent
• Management Diploma
• MSc Cardiology or equivalent experience
• Immediate Life Support

• Excellent organisation and time management skills, able to deliver objectives within an agreed time frame
• Able to apply a fair, consistent and objective approach
• Proactive approach to quality control and making improvements in efficiency and effectiveness of service
• Understanding of management in relation to finance and management

• Strong leadership and team building skills
• Able to relate and communicate with staff at all levels and from different professions
• Ability to overcome language barriers
• Experience of and demonstrable skills in first line management
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Good interpersonal skills

• Extensive postgraduate experience in technical cardiology
• Competent to perform a range of highly specialised invasive procedures
• Competent to perform complex device implant and device follow‑up
• Experience and competence in all routine non‑invasive procedures e.g. exercise tolerance testing and ECG rhythm analysis
• Experience of day‑to‑day organisation and management
• Understanding of issues pertaining to education of technical cardiology and current curricula
• Teaching and presentation skills
• Aware of current health issues, particularly CHD services and recent initiatives
• Ability to direct and work within a team
• High level of coordination and manual dexterity
• Strong team working and independent working ability
• Leadership and motivational skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Prioritise and manage self and others' staff time effectively
• Deal effectively with unexpected changes of schedule
• Wide knowledge of general cardiac conditions and their management
• Previous supervisory responsibilities
• Experience with cardiology patient databases and systems such as Lorenzo, CRIS PACS, GE ETT equipment, Spacelabs Pathfinder, Holter QMAPP haemodynamic systems
• Experience delivering formal training
