We are seeking an experienced, motivated and inspirational Children's Nurse Team Manager to provide clinical and operational leadership within our expanding children's services. This is an exciting time for the service, with two commissioned designated HDU spaces and an £11 million NHS England investment to build a new Children's Ward. The post holder will provide visible leadership to the nursing and multidisciplinary team, with responsibility for the day-to-day management of the ward, workforce, patient safety, safeguarding, clinical governance, quality improvement and patient experience. They will foster a positive, inclusive culture where children, young people and their families remain at the centre of all care.

This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of children's services, lead a dedicated team and make a lasting impact on the care and experience of children, young people and their families.

At the heart of everything we do are our core values:
Include, Respect, and Improve. We encourage you to embrace these values throughout the recruitment process and in your role with us.

Main duties of the job

Working closely with the Matron and multidisciplinary colleagues, the post holder will lead the integration of the new HDU provision and support the planning, mobilisation and transition into the new ward. They will inspire and develop staff, champion innovation and evidence-based practice, and ensure high standards of care throughout a period of significant growth and change.

Provide visible clinical and operational leadership, ensuring safe, evidence-based, compassionate and family-centred care for children and young people in partnership with families and the multidisciplinary team.

Lead the day-to-day management of the children's ward, maintaining high standards of clinical practice, patient safety, safeguarding, infection prevention, governance and patient experience in line with the NMC Code, national standards and Trust policies.

Provide expert paediatric leadership, supporting staff development, clinical competency and the delivery of high-quality care across the ward and newly commissioned two-bed HDU service.

Lead workforce planning, ensuring safe staffing, effective deployment, education, appraisal, supervision and mandatory training.

Monitor quality, safety, incidents, complaints, audit and performance, embedding learning and continuous quality improvement.

Promote collaborative multidisciplinary working and ensure children, young people and families are fully involved in decisions about their care.
