OverviewThe Financial Intelligence Development Officer reports to the Proceeds of Crime Unit (POCU) and will manage referrals from constituent forces and identify opportunities for asset recovery under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA) and associated legislation. The role utilises a range of databases, intelligence systems and research tools to develop financial intelligence, identify criminal assets, and support the progression of asset recovery investigations.
The post holder contributes to the disruption of criminality by depriving offenders of illicit gains, and delivers a specialist function in handling and assessing sensitive intelligence reports.
- Develop financial intelligence from referrals received from constituent forces.
- Identify opportunities for asset recovery under POCA and other relevant legislation.
- Use databases, intelligence systems and research tools to analyse financial information.
- Determine appropriate next steps and work within strict time‑constraints.
- Support the progression of asset‑recovery investigations.
- FIO accreditation through the NCA or willingness to obtain and maintain accreditation via continued professional development.
- Management Vetting (5 years residency criteria) and Security Clearance (5 years residency criteria) prior to appointment.
- Experience in financial investigation or related intelligence work.
- Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
