Description
Make a lasting impact in the lives of children by joining our before and after school care team! As a School Age Child Care Assistant Teacher, you will support the Site Supervisor in creating a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for children in grades K–6. This position is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with kids, love to play, and are looking for meaningful part-time work.
Key Responsibilities- Assist with supervision and engagement of children in daily activities
- Support the implementation of curriculum, games, crafts, and learning opportunities
- Help ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for all participants
- Promote positive behavior and serve as a role model for children
- Assist with daily routines such as check‑in/out, snack distribution, and transitions
- Build strong relationships with children, families, and fellow staff
- Maintain program policies and help ensure compliance with licensing standards
Pay: $12 - $14/hour
Work Schedule (school year)Monday – Friday 6:25 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m.
Requirements Qualifications- Must meet the qualifications for Assistant Teacher under DCF 251 Licensing Rules for Group Child Care Centers
- Experience working with children ages 5–12 preferred
- A positive attitude and a passion for working with school‑age kids
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills
- Patience, flexibility, and creativity are a must
- Must demonstrate the YMCA core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility
- Must complete a health examination and fingerprint background check prior to employment
- CPR/AED/First Aid Certification
