The Program Director for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program provides visionary and strategic for a program grounded in community engagement and rural health access. The Director oversees all aspects of program administration, including curriculum development, faculty recruitment and mentorship, accreditation compliance, and budget management. This role ensures the program’s alignment with the mission of UWSP and the standards of the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE), fostering an inclusive learning environment that prepares graduates for evidence-based, person-centered practice.
The Program Director represents the program within the university and professional community and promotes innovation in teaching, scholarship, and clinical partnerships.
- Plan, coordinate, facilitate, administer and monitor/assess the Doctor of Physical Therapy Academic program. This includes budget development and management, curriculum review and coordination, faculty and academic staff hiring and development, oversight of admissions.
- New program development and supervision including growth associated with rural rehabilitation focus and healthy communities. Examples include supervision of the development of residency education.
- Assure compliance with the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education and other external accreditation according to program needs (e.g., ABPTRFE). This includes timely submission of required reports and payments.
- Teaching in the entry-level DPT education program in alignment with academic background and expertise.
- Additional teaching assignments outside of the DPTE program as negotiated to include undergraduate instruction in pre-physical therapy coursework.
- Participate in supervision of graduate student capstone/thesis/dissertation projects.
- Active engagement in the DPT program clinical practice consistent with background and expertise.
- Active engagement in scholarship consistent with background and expertise
- Active participation in program, school, college and university committees.
