Overview
Schwing Bioset is seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Buyer to join our procurement team in Stillwater, MN. The ideal candidate will be responsible for selecting and purchasing quality products which includes processing purchase orders, negotiating with suppliers, tracking orders, creating, and maintaining inventory, quality assurance and liaising with inventory teams and management.
Responsibilities- Communicate with current and potential suppliers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Prepare purchase orders by verifying specifications and price, obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items and obtaining approval from department manager.
- Obtain purchased items by forwarding orders to suppliers, monitoring and expediting orders.
- Verify receipt of items.
- Expediting of purchase orders.
- Review and update project shortage reports.
- Compare and evaluate quotes/prices from suppliers.
- Update and maintain vendor quote records.
- Negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing.
- Make every effort to increase productivity and efficiency without compromising quality.
- Make recommendations to upper management on possible purchases, monitoring trends and attempting to find potential deals.
- Attempt to find new products that might improve company’s performance.
- Generate ideas to keep the company under budget. At the very least, make sure the company does not overspend.
- Ensure that the manufactured product meets customer specifications.
- Maintain documentation for production related activities for reference purposes.
- Conduct all activities within the guidelines of all company policies, procedures, and work rules.
- Must have High School Diploma.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required in the related field of business, administration, economics, customer service, communications, or mathematics.
- 3 years’ experience with SAP required.
- Proficiency in Outlook, Word, Excel, etc. required.
- Familiarity with engineering prints/customized parts and metal fabrication.
- Knowledge in (and/or ability to learn) hydraulics, electrical systems, pneumatics, mechanical systems, and PLC’s not required, but a plus.
- Professional, confident, dependable, and keen negotiators.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask.
- Excellent communication/negotiation skills.
- Must be flexible to work extra hours when needed.
- Proficient communication, problem solving, and teamwork skills are essential.
- Good organization skills who can multi-task under tight deadlines.
- Self-starter with great attention to detail who can work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills.
