Position Summary
The Finance & Compliance Associate will play a key role in shaping the financial systems, compliance structure, and long-term sustainability of Vantage Mental Health. This role is ideal for a mission-driven individual early in their career who is eager to learn and grow into an executive leadership position.
Initially focused on core financial management, reporting, and system-building, this position will evolve into a leadership role overseeing finance, compliance, and technology as part of Vantage’s executive team alongside the Executive Director and Director of Operations.
The role is hands-on, creative, and strategic — suited for someone who enjoys solving complex problems, learning new systems, and helping build a new model for nonprofit healthcare.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with accounting, bookkeeping, and financial recordkeeping using nonprofit accounting standards.
- Support budget creation, forecasting, and monthly reconciliation processes.
- Help develop transparent financial reports that align with Vantage’s open-compensation model.
- Monitor expenses and help design efficient systems for tracking, reporting, and analysis.
- Support grant reporting and compliance tracking.
Compliance & Organizational Systems
- Assist in maintaining compliance with state and federal nonprofit regulations, healthcare payer requirements, and internal policies.
- Help implement processes for audit preparation, 990 filings, and other reporting obligations.
- Support implementation of cybersecurity and HIPAA-compliant IT systems in partnership with the Operations Director.
- Participate in risk management and internal control initiatives.
Technology & Process Development
- Collaborate with leadership to identify AI and automation tools that streamline finance and compliance operations.
- Help create workflows and dashboards that support transparency and efficiency across the organization.
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Operations Director to align financial strategy with mission objectives.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions and leadership meetings.
- Contribute to decision-making on organizational growth, sustainability, and innovation.
Qualifications
Required:
- Coursework or degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, Public Administration, or related field.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfort with spreadsheets, data systems, and technology (experience with Excel, Google Sheets, or Quick Books Online preferred).
- High integrity and alignment with nonprofit values of transparency and accountability.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
Preferred:
- Interest or experience in nonprofit or healthcare finance.
- Exposure to compliance, audit, or risk management processes.
- Desire to grow into an executive-level leadership role.
- Familiarity with data visualization tools or AI-enabled financial systems.

Compensation & Growth Path
- Initial Phase: 5–20 hours/week at $20–$30/hour for 3–6 months.
- Growth Phase: Transition to full-time Director of Finance role ($60,000–$80,000 annual salary, commensurate with experience).
