Position: Engineering Aide I Traffic Temp

Washington County is currently hiring for an Engineering Aide I Traffic Temp. This position provides skilled or technical skilled labor collecting and analyzing traffic data, creating traffic safety and operations reports, and assisting with traffic sign and signal maintenance for the Transportation Division. Work is done under varying degrees of supervision.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE

• Successfully completed any college-level Traffic/Transportation Engineering courses
• Previous experience in Traffic Operations with Washington County or similar experience in another county
• Previous paid experience working near moving traffic and in field data collection

HOURS / DAYS

Monday - Friday; 7:00am-3:30pm. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.

ANTICIPATED HIRING RATE

$20.03 - $21.57 Hourly

SELECTION TECHNIQUE

Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

Education and Experience:

Must be at least 18 years of age, ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions; engineering college background or civil technology at a technical college desirable; must have own means of transportation; individuals operating a motor vehicle for county business must possess a valid driver’s license.

Offers of employment will be contingent upon successfully passing a criminal history and fingerprint background check prior to beginning employment with Washington County.

Skills:

Knowledge of common tools, methods and equipment used in Engineering and Surveying. Ability to understand and follow basic instructions; ability to perform manual labor for extended periods of time under possible adverse weather conditions and/or in close proximity to moving traffic. Ability to meet and deal with the public in a friendly, professional manner. Ability to report to work on a regular and timely basis.

Must wear prescribed clothing and/or personal protective safety equipment.
