Position: IT Manager - Applications and Database

The IT Applications and Database Manager drives innovative solutions and guides complex projects where analysis and strategic thinking are essential. This role requires knowledge of county objectives, current trends in technology, and expertise in business systems analysis. This includes application development, database management, and software quality assurance to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable business applications to stakeholders.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE
  • Paid work experience in a leadership role managing projects and a technical team
  • Paid work experience in leading database teams or projects
  • Paid work experience in leading application development teams or projects
  • Experience with cloud platforms (i.e. Azure or AWS)
  • Paid work experience in assisting with the development of contracts and managing vendor relationships
  • Paid work experience in critical systems thinking with the ability to anticipate technology needs
  • Paid work experience in demonstrating the ability to react quickly and responding effectively to technology incidents and service requests
  • Paid work experience communicating with a wide variety of individuals, including senior leadership
  • Paid work experience communicating to create an environment that encourages staff to perform to the best of their abilities and hold every employee accountable for results
  • Paid work experience in preparing and managing a budget
  • Paid work experience in providing excellent customer service to end users throughout the organization, regardless of their technical expertise

SELECTION TECHNIQUE

Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.

HOURS / DAYS

8 hours/day, 5 days/week with at least 4 days in office. Occasional after hours and weekend support. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based on department needs.

The IT Manager provides specialized leadership and technical direction to a division of the County IT function. Exercises approval authority over IT policies and procedures. Research and prepare policies and procedures. Works as part of a team to develop IT goals and/or technology strategies with input from staff and technology users.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Master's degree in Information Technology, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field with six (6) years of professional level experience in IT and at least two (2) years of experience leading technical projects and/or teams, OR a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Public Administration, Business Administration, or related field with eight (8) years of professional level experience in IT and at least two (2) years of experience leading technical projects and/or teams, OR an Associate degree in Information Technology, Public Administration, Business Administration or related field with ten (10) years of professional level experience in IT and at least two (2) years of experience leading technical projects and/or teams, OR an equivalent combination of education and job related work experience that totals twelve (12) years of professional level experience in IT and at least two(2) years of experience leading technical projects and/or teams.

Depending on the position, specific technical experience and knowledge may be required.
