Job Title

Media Support Technician - District Wide

Position Purpose

The Media Support Technician is responsible for supporting media resources and services through the library media centers. Media support includes providing first‑level help‑desk response for electronic device issues, opening help tickets, technology resource support, organizing media materials, operating the check‑in/check‑out of resources through database tools, scheduling media spaces, supporting student use of various types of media, site‑level assessment coordination, assessment proctoring, and management of assessment materials.

This position is located in the Library Media Center and supports district and building media functions from that location.

Essential Job Functions
  • Check resources in and out of the media center asset management systems:
    Chromebooks, Computers, Robots, Library Books, and other resources.
  • Assist users in the Library Media Center space to find, access, and use resources.
  • Provide “how to” support to help staff and students properly connect and use their computer and media resources, including turning on, signing in, database access, looking up information, accessing online tools, and other basic uses of district media technology resources.
  • Provide technology support by helping staff and students acquire the correct cables and adapters needed to support their technology needs.
  • Assist staff in support of student learning activities.
  • Act as the site level contact for district‑wide assessments.
  • Receive annual training, as required, to ensure compliance with testing requirements.
  • Communicate expectations around assessment training, schedules, and administration with site staff.
  • Proctor assessments as needed; primarily for the purpose of facilitating makeup or one‑off requirements.
  • Open help tickets for damaged chromebooks or other technology devices.
  • Enter assessed repair fees into the library media database (technology & media).
  • Enter assessed replacement fees into the library media database (technology & media).
  • Print and mail letters to families being assessed fees through the library database.
  • Collect and clear fees upon receipt of payment.
Additional Duties

Performs other job‑related responsibilities as scheduled or requested.

Equipment
  • General use of database inventory tools and the ability to check items in and out.
  • Basic understanding of cables and adapters that computers use.
  • Basic understanding of how to sign‑in to Internet services.

  • Ability to report work orally or in writing to supervisor as required.
  • Effective writing and communication skills.

  • Ability to pick up from and deliver materials to the Central Services Building.
  • Ability to learn new media systems and then support others in their use.
  • Sensitivity to student data privacy, including student checkout records and book choice.
  • Understanding of our district’s library mission and philosophy.
  • Enthusiasm for working with all students and connecting them to library resources.
