Overview
The Sentence to Service Crew Leader oversees sentence to serve work projects, maintains work site and equipment compliance, safety policies and supervises a work crew of sentenced offenders.
Desirable Experience- Paid work experience supervising work crews in a sentence to serve program or equivalent work
- Paid work experience in culturally sensitive communication with identified minority populations
- Paid or unpaid work experience with offenders in a correctional or community-based setting
- Paid work experience in construction, general repairs and/or maintenance using power tools
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree or higher, specifically in a closely related field (i.e. sociology, criminal justice, or behavioral sciences)
Your training and experience will be rated based on the required application material submitted and the top-scoring candidates will be forwarded to the hiring department for further consideration.
Hours / Days40 hours per week. This position works four 10-hour days. May include day, evening and weekend hours. Work schedules (hours and days) and location are subject to change based upon department needs.
Anticipated Hiring Rate$29.34 - $34.66 per hour

This position requires an Associate degree and/or two years of experience working as a laborer in a lead position; and/or one year of experience in Corrections or in a related field of work. Crew Leaders will be required to complete first aid, CPR and annual chainsaw use and safety training.

Note:
Sentence to Serve Crew Leaders may perform some or all of the following tasks depending on their areas of expertise.
Plan Sentence to Serve work projects:
- Assess proposed job sites for appropriateness;
- Develop and implement work plans;
- Act as the liaison between several stakeholders; and
- Organize projects maximizing time and labor efficiency.
Ensure safety policies and procedures are followed:
- Provide offenders a variety of training to complete work projects;
- Orient participants to proper and safe use of power equipment and tools;
- Complete and submit training record forms;
- Respond to emergency situations;
- Ensure proper responses to weather conditions for safety;
- Prepare injury and/or incident reports; and
- Document and investigate incidents and violations.
Supervise offenders:
- Train and provide work direction to crew members;
- Create crew members work schedules;
- Transport crew members to and from worksite;
- Review crew members work for quality;
