Your primary responsibility is to perform expert-level professional grooming services, including bathing, drying, brushing, haircuts and styling, nail trimming, ear cleaning, and gland cleaning. You will prioritize the safety, comfort and well-being of each animal and deliver a high level of customer satisfaction.

• Perform professional grooming services with moderate to limited supervision, following breed standards and company policies.
• Operate and maintain grooming instruments such as clippers, blades, shears, brushes and dryers.
• Prioritize animal safety, monitor for discomfort or illness, and report concerns promptly.
• Evaluate each pet’s needs based on coat type, skin condition and temperament.
• Provide excellent customer service, address inquiries, offer recommendations and resolve concerns.
• Educate pet parents on grooming maintenance and at-home care practices.
• Maintain a clean, safe salon: disinfect tools, sanitize equipment, and perform daily and weekly cleaning duties.
• Adhere to Petco grooming policies, standards and guidelines to ensure safety, quality and consistency.
• Train, support and supervise entry-level trainees in the absence of a Grooming Salon Leader.

• Successful completion of the Pet Stylist Apprentice program or completion of a technical grooming training program.
• High‑school diploma or GED preferred (not required).
• Independent judgement and problem‑solving skills in routine to moderately complex grooming situations.
• Results‑driven with a commitment to productivity, performance and ownership of role.
• Strong attention to detail, executing grooming services accurately and to the highest standards.
• Passion for animals and a desire to pursue a career in pet grooming.
• Expert knowledge of dog breeds, grooming requirements, common health issues and behaviors.
• Proficiency in breed‑specific cuts, styling techniques and grooming standards.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for interactions with pet parents and team members.
• Ability to handle pets of all sizes and temperaments with care and empathy.
• Availability to work weekends, evenings and holidays as required by the grooming schedule.

The majority of duties are conducted indoors in the grooming salon. The position requires bending, kneeling, lifting (up to 30 pounds), and standing for long periods. Exposure to heights and the use of a ladder for cleaning duties may occur. The environment can be noisy and wet.

Salary Range: $15.00 – $22.50 per hour.
