Overview

Outside Sales Representative Building/Lumber – We are looking for an outgoing and energetic Outside Sales Rep in the Lumber and Building Materials industry to join our growing team. The Outside Sales Rep will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with customers, identifying new business opportunities, and achieving sales targets. You will utilize building materials knowledge, particularly in lumber, trusses, and exterior building products, to communicate and demonstrate value to customers.

The role involves reaching business targets through management of designated territories and in-person visits to customer and contractor sites.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure delivery of target sales by meeting with customers and maintaining relationships
  • Recommend service and product enhancements to improve sales potential
  • Analyze plans and trends to ensure best assignment of territories, clients, and service distribution
  • Maintain technical and professional knowledge by reviewing professional publications, participating in industry networks, and growing lasting client relationships
  • Establish sales objectives by projecting expected sales volumes and forecasting
  • Remain relevant with economic indicators, changing trends, supply and demand shifts, and product mix
  • Positively contribute to full sales and customer service teams
  • Develop and collaborate on long- and short-term sales strategies
Qualifications / Skills
  • Minimum 2+ years of Outside Sales or Account Management experience
  • Strong knowledge of lumber, trusses, and exterior building materials
  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales targets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to establish rapport and build relationships with customers
  • Highly motivated and results-oriented
  • Strong negotiation and closing skills
