Child Welfare Specialist – Level I, II, III

Located in Stillwater, Oklahoma, this position offers extensive training for new employees and the opportunity to make a lasting impact on child and family safety.

Salary and Benefits
  • Level I H23A – $37,280.75 + Full State Employee Benefits
  • Level II H23B – $40,077.79 + Full State Employee Benefits
  • Level III H23C – $43,968.62 + Full State Employee Benefits

Applicants with a Master’s Degree in Social Work receive an additional 5% salary incentive. On‑call positions earn an extra bonus of $100 to $150 every two weeks, according to responsibilities. Hours may include on‑call, extended, and/or weekend shifts.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Child Welfare Specialist, Level I
    • Completion of 90 hours of accredited college coursework; or
    • Three years of child welfare experience; or
    • A combination of education and experience.
  • Child Welfare Specialist, Level II
    • A bachelor’s degree in any field; or
    • One year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
  • Child Welfare Specialist, Level III
    • A Master’s degree; or
    • Bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience; or
    • Two years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist.
Job Duties
  • Child Protective Services (CPS)
    • Investigate allegations of child abuse or neglect.
    • Protect child safety and provide services to mitigate risk barriers.
  • Family Centered Services (FCS)
    • Preserve and strengthen parental protective capacities to keep children at home, focusing on safety and preventing unnecessary out‑of‑home placements.
  • Permanency Planning (PP)
    • Engage families in their own treatment plans.
    • Arrange appropriate placements meeting medical, educational, and physical needs.
    • Return children to parents when feasible; establish permanent plans otherwise.
  • Core Academy Training
    • Learn treatment and preventive services.
    • Visit children in placement and conduct assessments.
    • Refer families and children to community services.
    • Participate in investigations, prepare case reports, and attend court hearings.
    • Provide testimony and consult with attorneys and tribal partners.
    • Offer direct services to children in placement.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Travel is extensive; a valid driver’s license and car insurance are required. State vehicles provided.
